Liquitex Professional Clear Acrylic Gesso is a specialised primer designed to prepare painting surfaces while maintaining visibility of the underlying material. Unlike traditional white gesso that obscures the surface, this clear formula seals, primes and adds tooth (texture) to create an ideal working ground for various artistic media. It can be used on multiple surfaces including canvas, wood, paper, metal and plaster, making it particularly valuable for artists who wish to preserve the character of their support or incorporate its texture into the final artwork. The gesso dries to a clear, flexible matt finish with just a single coat, though additional coats can be applied to reduce surface visibility further. Its formulation allows it to be used not only with acrylic paints but also with oils, oil pastels, gouache, graphite and charcoal, providing exceptional versatility. The product can be thinned with up to 25% water or mixed with Liquitex Matte Medium for greater dilution.
