Cranborne Audio N22 Standalone 4-Channel Cat 5 Snake and C.A.S.T. Breakout Box

The Cranborne Audio N22 is a passive audio distribution system designed to simplify cable management in studio, live sound, and home cinema setups. It functions as both a standalone Cat 5 snake and a C.A.S.T. (Cranborne Audio Snake Technology) breakout box, enabling the transmission of four channels of balanced analogue audio over a single shielded Cat 5e, Cat 6, or Cat 7 network cable. This replaces the need for four separate XLR cables, significantly reducing cable clutter while maintaining high signal integrity over distances of up to 100 metres (330 feet). The unit is completely passive, requiring no external power, and fully supports 48V phantom power. It features two balanced combo jack inputs (accepting XLR or 1/4" connections) and provides two balanced XLR outputs plus two balanced 1/4" jack outputs. The C.A.S.T. technology is optimised to prevent high-end frequency roll-off and minimise crosstalk over long cable runs. The rugged metal enclosure includes fixing holes for permanent installation, cable-tie holes, and non-slip rubber feet for stable placement. The N22 is versatile for various applications: connecting a live room to an interface in a studio, linking a mixing console to power amps in a live rig, or distributing audio in a home cinema system. It can be used standalone by connecting two N22 units together or integrated into a system with other C.A.S.T.-enabled Cranborne Audio interfaces like the 500R8 or 500ADAT for advanced routing and monitoring. It represents a cost-effective solution for achieving clean, flexible audio distribution with minimal setup complexity.
