The Allen & Heath DX168 is a professional audio expander designed to remotely increase the input and output capabilities of compatible dLive mixing systems. It functions as a portable stage box, allowing microphone and line-level signals to be gathered at a distance from the main mixer and transmitted over a single network cable. This is particularly useful in live sound applications where long cable runs from the stage to the front-of-house position are impractical or undesirable. The unit provides 16 high-quality microphone preamplifiers, each with its own phantom power status LED, and 8 balanced XLR line outputs. It connects to a dLive S Class or C Class surface or mixrack via a secure, locking EtherCon port using standard Cat5e cable, with runs of up to 100 metres supported. A second port allows for daisy-chaining an additional DX168 or creating a redundant connection for critical applications. Its construction features protective rubber bumpers and a built-in carry handle, making it robust enough for placement directly on a stage floor.
