The Sequential Prophet-10 is a 10-voice analogue polyphonic synthesiser that faithfully recreates the legendary Prophet-5, reintroduced for modern musicians. It delivers the authentic, warm, and nuanced sound that defined an era of music production, housed in a premium walnut heartwood case with a five-octave semi-weighted Fatar keyboard. This instrument captures the original's character through genuine hardware components and thoughtful modern updates, making it both a historical tribute and a versatile contemporary tool. At its core are two authentic CEM 3340 voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) per voice, offering simultaneously selectable wave shapes including sawtooth, pulse, and triangle. The synth features switchable low-pass filters, allowing you to choose between the authentic Prophet-5 Rev1/2 filter (a Dave Rossum-designed 2140) and the Rev3 filter (a Doug Curtis-designed CEM 3320). A dedicated 'Vintage Knob' recreates the subtle random variations in oscillator pitch, filter response, and envelope behaviour that gave the original Prophet its distinctive, organic sound. The instrument also includes the classic Poly Mod section, with filter envelope and oscillator B as modulation sources for creating complex, evolving textures. The Prophet-10 is equipped with 200 rewritable user programs and 200 permanent factory programs, including the original 1978 40-program suite used on countless recordings. Modern additions include velocity sensitivity and aftertouch for enhanced expression, along with comprehensive connectivity via MIDI, USB, and CV/gate inputs and outputs. With the recent OS 2.0 update, the synth gains bi-timbral operation, allowing for stack and split modes where two different programs can be played across the keyboard.
