What is included in the box?
The unit typically includes the AIRSTEP footswitch controller and a USB charging cable. For the most accurate and current list of inclusions, please refer to the manufacturer's packaging or official product listing.
Can it control amplifier channels or effects pedals without MIDI?
Yes. It can send footswitch actions (via a TRS cable) to control devices like amplifiers or pedals that have a standard footswitch input jack, even if they lack a MIDI interface.
What is the wireless range?
The Bluetooth wireless communication has a range of approximately 30 metres (100 feet) in open space.
How do you program the footswitches?
Programming is done via the dedicated AIRSTEP mobile app (iOS/Android). The app allows you to assign MIDI messages, HID commands, or footswitch actions to each switch, with options for press, release, and long-press triggers. You can also download and load pre-made factory presets from an online library.
What types of expression pedals are compatible?
The two expression pedal inputs support both TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) and RTS (Ring-Tip-Sleeve) type pedals, covering compatibility with most common expression pedal models on the market.
What is the MIDI forwarding function?
The MIDI forwarding (or 'thru') function allows the AIRSTEP to receive MIDI data from any of its input sources (5-pin MIDI In, USB, or Bluetooth) and then re-transmit that data to any combination of its output sources. This can be used to make a wired MIDI controller wireless or to send commands from a computer DAW to a hardware effects unit.
Can you expand the number of footswitches?
Yes, you can wirelessly expand the system by adding an AIRSTEP Lite unit, which provides five additional footswitches that connect via Bluetooth.
